Archie's House

The brief for Archie’s House was relaxed and calm with elements from both the minimalistic and organic styles. An easy home to look after and maintain.

Working from the ground up, we chose an oak timber look vinyl planks and crisp white walls to create a calm, organic blank canvas. We sold the old furniture that didn’t fit the brief and started fresh. Four lounges were purchased in different shades and textures of linen layered with cushions of different weaves and appearance.

New cabinetry was installed in the media room as there was a lack of storage in the house. The more organised a home is the calmer a home can feel. The cabinetry style was minimal with a prime oak finish.

Art was purchased following the same theme of neutral, minimal and calm and placed above lounges. Art can evoke emotion, in this case it is the feeling of calm.

Built-in cabinetry was installed in three bedrooms. The third bedroom the cabinetry also doubled as a built-in study area with the doors folding back to open up as an office. Making use of space and clever joinery in essential in design. It makes a house functionally work better.

New linen bedheads and side tables were purchased to carry the theme through the house. Soft, natural, linen sheers hung to soften the living rooms and main bedroom.

We wanted to include one stand out piece that didn’t domineer the space or home. The result was custom-built doors in spotted gum adjoining two living areas.
