Nuouvi Inizi

Nuouvi Inizi (New Beginnings)

Now and then. A cool, contemporary addition to a Victorian home.

Thoughtfully considered, the family wanted to keep and restore the original Victorian home, while extending the home to meet all their needs.

Inspired by a contemporary, mid-century modern style. ‘Nuouvi Inizi’ includes an open floor plan addition, with a second floor to leading the master bedroom, walk-in robe and ensuite. The addition has little ornamentation and large-scale windows allowing the indoor and outdoor spaces to complement each other.

The original section of the house was kept and restored, keeping its original windows, ceiling, timber floors, architraves and skirting boards.

The formal lounge room is teal, with black accents, including the restored fireplace. Commissioned artworks feature in this room, linking colour and creating contrast in the space.

We added vertical, timber panelling to add texture and interest to the open plan kitchen, dining and family area. The timber panels soften the space and is an ideal acoustic buffer to the polished concrete floor. A natural palette was used to create a calm, harmonious atmosphere.

Following the same theme, we used black vertical timber panels with custom-built cabinetry upstairs in the master bedroom. Black was featured as major colour in the master bedroom to add mood and opulence to the space.
